Hola Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo!
Well, after having to spend a day in
bed yesterday due to a stomach bug, I am much recovered today, thanks to those
wonderful things called antibiotics. I
must say that I have never experienced such deep and immediate love and concern
as has been shown to us by Pastor Jaime, his wife, Ruth, and their friend who
has been cooking and cleaning for us, Milo.
What a blessing for me to be better today because we all got to
experience an amazing day of site seeing!
We started out by driving into the mountains to climb further in a
beautiful park. The sites of the Andes
Mountains were so incredible. We will
post pictures, but I am certain that they will not do justice to the amazing
beauty of God’s creation. Then we had a
late lunch at a restaurant similar to Ruby Tuesday’s. With plans to shop at the “Concha,” we had to change our U.S. dollars to
Bolivianos. This was a fascinating
process whereby Pastor Jaime stopped the van on a busy city corner and flagged
a money changer. This woman climbed into
our van and exchanged our money!
Definitely not something that would take place in the US! Then we had a wonderful time shopping at the
Concha. I even managed to haggle in
Spanish! Some of our team went out for
ice cream while the rest of us returned home to prepare for the all-day church
retreat tomorrow.
I cannot say enough about God’s
faithfulness in how He has brought this amazing team together and the ways He
has shown His love to us already on our journey. The people of Florida Norte are the most
loving and hospitable people I have ever met.
Thank you for your continued prayers as much of our most challenging
work lies ahead.
Gracias a Dios!
Paige Jensen
